This Thanksgiving, we’re so grateful for all of the moms invited into community by moms like you! Check out Jessica’s Membership story and consider inviting the next mom you bump into to your next MOPS meeting.
I was a fresh stay-at-home mom of three little boys (5 and under). My husband worked an hour away so he was gone for the entire day. I am pretty outgoing, but being cooped up in the house all day, every day was bringing me down. My old friends were great, but they were working moms and we were losing touch. I tried to find other stay-at-home mom friends, but it was tough! Finding mom friends was just like dating. Trust me, “mom dating” is real and I never made a connection.
I felt like I was losing myself and I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want to go back to work and leave my babies, but I was close to going back just so I could reclaim a bit of myself. Then, one day a new neighbor moved it and they were a young family! This might not sound exciting, but to someone in my situation it was just what I needed. After meeting the family a couple of times, Danielle (the mom) told me about her MOPS group. She talked about how moms brought their littles to each meeting and for two and a half hours the kids were in child care! She shared about the speakers, crafts, food and fellowship (my FAVORITE). I was in and I registered that day. I was so excited to get to know my neighbor and other moms!
Now, we are about half way through my first year and I am so grateful! I have met amazing moms and had some great conversations about motherhood. But just to have some hot coffee and “me” time is a gift! I look forward to every meeting. I owe my sanity and family happiness to MOPS.
